    Your responsibilities

    We are looking for an experienced IT Solution Architect to join our Architecture Team under the COO area of Uniper, which includes the Renewables, New Green Power and Gas, Energy Asset and Asset Transformation business functions.

    This wide-ranging role involves activities such as working on infrastructure architecture projects, designing bespoke network solutions, reviewing and approving application emergency recovery plans, and creating tailored solution architecture including hosting environment, data integration and resilience for onboarding new applications, to list just some of the possible key solution architecture areas related to the role.

    A solid background in embedding security principles, assessing for vulnerabilities and reviewing resiliency considerations for every aspect of your work, is key to the role, as a significant proportion of the architecture work takes place in a hybrid IT / OT environment, involving critical infrastructure.

    Design secure solutions : Develop architectures, solutions, and services tailored for IT and IT / OT environments, ensuring the protection of both operational and information systems.Risk and threat analysis : Proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement measures to mitigate security risks in industrial settings.Collaboration across teams : Work closely with IT and OT teams to seamlessly integrate requirements into operational systems, ensuring a consistent approach across both domains, and to provide guidance and support in architecture topics.Tool evaluation and integration : Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that cater to the specific needs of IT / OT convergence.Evaluate business needs and align with IT strategy : Determine how IT can best support our business strategy, leveraging software, hardware and infrastructure.Regulatory and compliance adherence : Ensure that all solutions and processes comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as NIS2, particularly in the energy and utilities sector.Your profile

    Required Qualifications :

    Several years of proven hands-on experience in IT solution architecture, infrastructure engineering, and implementation, with a strong focus on OT environments.In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles across both IT and OT domains.Strong expertise in network and security technologies, including firewalls, IDS / IPS, VLAN and encryption.Experience with industrial control system protocols.A deep understanding of cloud architecture, specifically within the Azure ecosystem.Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.Strong communications and relationship skills to effectively work across teams and the ability to communicate complex technical information to all stakeholders.Written and verbal proficiency in German and English.Preferred Qualifications :Experience in energy or utilities infrastructure.Familiarity with the latest security frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO / IEC 27001).Experience with application hosting and architecture in an Azure cloud environment, its services, and good awareness of IaC (e.g. Terraform) and CI / CD pipelines.Your benefits

    Your responsibilities

    Supporting analytical activities with respect to the ammonia market.Design and implement a real-time data pipeline to feed the model with live inputs from relevant data sources.Work on and enhance the existing ML forecasting model, and implement additional algorithms (e.g., LSTMs, GRUs, Transformer-based models) on Databricks to improve performance and accuracy.Integrate the model output into a production-ready environment, ensuring reliability and maintainability.Document code, methodologies, findings, and improvements.Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning, time series forecasting, and MLOps.

    Your profile


    Currently enrolled as a master’s student in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Economics, Energy Engineering, or another related technical or quantitative field.Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, seaborn), and machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).A solid understanding of ML workflows, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter tuning, and model evaluation, is a must.Familiarity with Databricks and Apache Spark (or similar cloud-based ML platforms) for data processing and pipeline development is a big advantage.Some previous experience in time series forecasting or predictive modelling.Basic knowledge of data engineering concepts, including building and maintaining data pipelines.Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    Was Dich in der Ausbildung erwartet

    Im Rahmen Deines praxisintegrierenden dualen Studiums (Beginn 01.09.2026) an der Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW) verknüpfst Du das bei Uniper erworbene praktische Anwendungswissen eines Ingenieurs der Elektro- und Leittechnik mit den Studieninhalten der Vorlesungen an der Hochschule. Durch die Wahl deines Studiengangs Bachelor of Science – Energieinformatik oder Bachelor of Science – Wirtschaftsingenieurwese – Energie und Umwelt hast die Möglichkeit deine Studienschwerpunkte mitzugestalten. Während des Studiums wirst Du ab dem ersten Tag durch ein umfangreiches Mentoring durch unser Ingenieur-Team begleitet.

    Du lernst in den Praxisphasen bei Uniper die verschiedenen Bereiche und Standorte unseres internationalen Unternehmens kennen. So wirst Du von Beginn an in wichtige Projekte einbezogen und unterstützt uns bei der Realisierung von unternehmensspezifischen Aufgabenstellungen rund um das Thema Energietechnik/ Energiewende und lernst dabei ganz nebenbei auch die entsprechenden Geschäftsprozesse kennen.

    Das Studium an der HRW am Campus in Bottrop gliedert sich in Pflicht- und Wahlmodulbereiche. Neben den Pflichtfächern wie z. B. Mathematik, Elektrotechnik, Mess- und Regelungstechnik, elektrische Energietechnik und Netze, Prozess- und Leittechnik, Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit in Energienetzen, Netzintegration erneuerbarer Energieanlagen, Kommunikations- und Nachrichtentechnik sowie Kommunikation für Energiesysteme stehen im Wahlmodulbereich umfangreiche und spannende Themen aus der Energieinformatik zur Auswahl.

    Der Studienverlauf endet mit einer dreimonatigen Bachelorarbeit, die Du auch bei uns in den Fachbereichen absolvieren kannst.

    #Duales Studium

    Das praxisintegrierende duale Studium wird wochenintegrativ umgesetzt, d. h. die Lernorte der Hochschule Ruhr West am Campus Bottrop und die innerbetrieblichen Lernorte in unseren Ingenieursabteilungen bei Uniper wechseln sich ab. Somit entsteht ein interessanter und aufeinander aufbauender Mix der Studien- und Praxisphasen.

    Du beendest das duale Studium nach 4,5 Jahren mit dem Abschluss Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.). Die Studiengebühren werden von uns übernommen.
