    As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment.     As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.     We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Buyer – Mechanical Components & Assemblies to manage the procurement of high-precision mechanical components and assemblies for both R&D projects and industrialization. This role plays a critical part in building a resilient supply chain and ensuring supplier readiness for high-volume manufacturing (HVM).

    Role Responsibilities:

    Act as the primary procurement interface for electron‑optical column programs, ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and suppliers.

    Drive procurement deliverables across all program phases (prototype, NPI, industrialization, ramp).

    Support Make/Buy decisions, cost modelling, and supplier selection in alignment with category management.

    Role overview:

    As a Junior Material Planner, you will support the planning, coordination, and control of materials required for semiconductor inspection and electron microscopy systems.     The iTeam (Installation team) stands for the Installation of semiconductors production equipment across the European Region (mainly in Germany, ireland, France and Italy). We roll in, assemble, connect, and test the new systems until we hand over to our service team and our customers for the manufacturing of wafers to kick off.

    Being part of the Install Task Force is more than a job, it is a way of life. As a team we travel approx. 75 % of our working time, and also get opportunities to support installations worldwide.

    This position demands technical expertise, customer focus, team involvement and flexibility to travel.

    Full training on our equipment will be provided through mentoring.

    Key Responsibilities 

    Perform independently installation tasks (mechanical assembly, electrical connections, robot calibrations), from the integration to the inspection of the tools including troubleshooting in case of issues.

    Follow all checklists and procedures and ensure correct procedures and schematics are available prior to performing work.

    Test equipment with assistance from senior engineers, existing documentation and diagnostic techniques.
