    The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems etc.) within the data center environment in a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to complex technical problems. This position requires frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, along with troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure issues. The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a ‘hands on’ capacity on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) infrastructure such as diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, fire detection systems and building automation systems. You will report to the Data Center Engineering Operations Manager.

    A day in the life
    The successful candidate will be accountable for:

    · Setting and maintaining the highest standards for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture in all aspects of operational procedure
    · Driving continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics
    · Enabling the operations organization to delivering 100% up-time on all customer supporting infrastructure
    · Collaborating effectively with internal & external stakeholders to deliver operational excellence for all AWS customers
    · Responsible for ensuring that the preventive maintenance of site-critical facility infrastructure is planned and executed to the highest standards, in accordance to AWS procedures
    · In charge of facility monitoring & supervision (via BMS, PMS, Walkthrough...etc.)
    · Participation in the successful delivery of build-out and retrofit of Data Center infrastructure
    · Ensuring organizational capability to react & respond appropriately to any potential customer-impacting event on any component of electrical or mechanical infrastructure.
    · Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries, and providing updates and recommended actions to management
    · Draft, update & maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation pertaining to DCEO

    Physical Requirements:
    · Work on a 24x7 schedule (where applicable)
    · Work at heights and from ladders.
    · Perform physical tasks during the shift
    · Work in a noisy environment with ear protection

    The Colo Regional Engineer is the engineering representative on behalf of the Data Center Field Engineering Team responsible for the successful delivery of projects. In this role, you will assist in Data Center site selection, planning, development. You will evaluate different mechanical/electrical systems and make a data driven decision about a suitable solution based on our guidelines.

    Key job responsibilities
    •Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design is meeting AWS expectations.
    • Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handover.
    • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
    • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.

    Key job responsibilities

    The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations and to support Amazon within its owned and operated data centers.
    Also expected from the CE is the ability to manage large scale impacting projects and new region support from conception to completion. These projects involve large amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, procurement, and finance in both local and global settings. The CE will be tasked with creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities. The goals of such projects are for the CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

    - Train and support Engineering team in their role of providing hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations.
